Cancer
Cancer epidemiology strives to explain the causation, early detection, survival and prevention of cancer. Each cancer site has its own mechanisms and characteristics, necessitating a diverse collection of technologies and approaches for the study of cancer epidemiology. Our studies have involved hormonal factors; occupational/environmental exposures; infectious agents including Helicobacter pylori; cancer genetic epidemiology; energy balance, diet, physical activity and cancer; noninvasive biomarker measurements for etiology, prediction and survival; public health interventions to reduce cancer incidence, morbidity and mortality. We currently have biospecimens and data from thousands of study subjects in more than a dozen studies, as well as active collaborative involvement with numerous international cancer consortia.
