Yale NetID and Email Setup for Incoming Students
Your NetID is your key to the many online resources throughout the University. Before you can use any of these services, however, you must activate your NetID.
To set up your NetID, you will need your personal NetID PIN which is sent to you via email, and will be active for up to 90 days. This PIN is for the initial activation only; after your NetID is activated, this PIN will no longer be useable.
If you have already activated your Yale NetID (for example, you are or have recently been enrolled in another school at Yale or are employed at Yale), ignore the PIN sent to you via email. If you have not activated your NetID, you may do so at the NetID Activation webpage.
On the activations page:

- Click on the “Graduate Student” radio button.
- Enter your single-use PIN: {{NetID Pin}}
- Enter your birth date
- Click on “Continue.“
- Enter the password you want to use. Remember this password; for security reasons, a new activation PIN will only be issued in accordance with security guidelines.
To maintain the security of your student records and accounts, it is imperative that you never share your password with others. If the PIN given does not allow you to activate your NetID, call the Help Desk at 203-432-9000 between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm U.S. Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday, for assistance.
Once activated, you can use your NetID and password to log into Yale Hub. This website provides access to most of the administrative and academic information related to your student records.
Using Yale Hub, you can:

Yale Email Account

All Yale students are provided with a university email account. This account is the official email used by Yale offices to send you important information. It is your responsibility to check it frequently. Email aliases are usually of the form 'firstname.lastname@yale.edu'. This email account and alias become available when you activate your NetID.
Unless you have requested confidentiality (see below), once you have activated your NetID, you may find your email alias by searching the Yale online directory and viewing the Email Address field.

As a student in the School of Public Health, you will have an EliApps account*. Please go to the ITS Webmail page and choose the “Sign in to your EliApps Mail account” link to access the login page, where you will enter your NetID and password.
Students who request confidentiality under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (the request form is available from your Registrar) will have an email account but no alias. They may receive email sent only to a more specific, unpublished address, as described in the confidentiality request form and in the “Directory Listing” menu item on the “Personal Data” tab on Yale Hub. Information about Yale email services is available on the ITS Webmail page.
Please be sure to begin checking your Yale email address as soon as you have it set up, by May 1 at the latest. This is where we will begin sending all other enrollment-related communications.
*Students in the Health Care Management program will have Outlook (Office 365) accounts. This is by design, as Outlook is the primary email platform used by Yale’s School of Management (SOM). It won’t impact any of your interactions with YSPH from an IT perspective.
Some instructions on email access for Outlook specifically:
- To access your email, please visit the Yale Outlook login webpage. Note: Please wait 20 min after activating your NetID to access your email. Your email address should follow the standard format of: firstname.lastname@yale.edu.
- Instructions on the various ways of accessing your Office 365 email account can be found on the Yale ITS Office 365 webpage.
