Clinical Care
Overview
Fernando Isaza, MD, is a surgeon who cares for adults with a broad range of general surgical needs, as well as patients who require trauma and surgical critical care. He treats conditions such as hernias, gallbladder disease, and other abdominal problems, and offers minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures when appropriate.
Dr. Isaza’s clinical focus includes hernia repair, gallbladder removal, and other operations involving the abdomen. He uses laparoscopic and robotic-assisted techniques, which rely on small incisions and cameras, to help reduce pain and support a smoother recovery whenever possible. He also has training in surgical critical care, which means he helps care for seriously ill or injured patients who need close monitoring after major surgery or trauma.
As an assistant professor of surgery at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Isaza is dedicated to teaching the next generation of surgeons and advancing surgical practice. He is interested in how new technology and techniques, including minimally invasive and robotic surgery, can improve patient care and shorten recovery times.
Dr. Isaza earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. He completed his residency in general surgery at Lehigh Valley Hospital and went on to complete fellowship training in surgical critical care at Yale School of Medicine.
