Rui Wang, MD, PhD, a postdoctoral fellow in immunobiology, has been awarded pilot funding from the Yale Liver Center, supported in part by an NIH P30 award, to investigate microbiome-driven mechanisms in autoimmune hepatitis (AIH).
Her proposal integrates human multi-omics analyses with mechanistic studies in gnotobiotic mouse models to dissect a newly emerging gut-liver axis in AIH. If successful, this research will provide a mechanistic framework for microbiota-targeted therapeutic strategies and lay the groundwork for precision interventions that move beyond nonspecific corticosteroid-based regimens in AIH.
Wang is mentored by Noah Palm, PhD, in the Department of Immunobiology and David Assis, MD, at the Yale Liver Center.
