This week, we recognize Registered Dietitians Max Goldstein, MS, RDN, and Natalie Smith, MS, RDN, CSO, as our Smilow Stars. Max is a culinary medicine-certified chef who teaches hands-on classes to patients, trainees, and staff at Yale New Haven Health’s Irving and Alice Brown Teaching Kitchen in North Haven. Natalie is a board-certified specialist in oncology nutrition who supports patients through the Smilow Survivorship Clinic and Smilow Integrative Medicine Program.
Since 2024, Max and Natalie have been collaborating on the very popular ‘Chop & Chat with Max and Nat’ webinar series. In each episode, Natalie provides oncology nutrition education and practical advice while Max demonstrates culinary skills and shares tips and tricks. The two answer viewer questions, suggest ingredient swaps, and dispel misconceptions related to oncology nutrition, showing that a healthy diet is a tasty and attainable goal for everyone. Their creativity, expertise, and on-camera chemistry make cooking fun for all!
