Fellow Focus in Four: Justin Dower, MD, Endocrinology & Metabolism
Meet Justin Dower, MD, a clinical fellow in Endocrinology & Metabolism, whose aim is to become an expert clinician, work with trainees, and learn how to better serve patients who speak other languages.
Why did you choose Yale Internal Medicine for your fellowship?
During my residency here, I did an elective rotation with the Section of Endocrinology & Metabolism, and I was really impressed by the didactic curriculum. Every week, leaders in the field teach small-group sessions on every subject in endocrinology, drawing on their experience as master clinicians and researchers. Everyone in the section is extremely kind and humble. Also, we get to see a wide range of endocrine pathology at Yale. It's a really great place to learn.
Tell us about your career goals.
I'm in the clinical track and hope to become an expert clinician. I also really enjoy teaching and hope to work with trainees.
What is a fun fact about you?
I majored in Romance Languages and Literatures in college and am interested in learning how to best serve our patients who speak other languages.
What do you enjoy about living in New Haven?
The pizza is hard to beat. It has thin crust, it's charred around the edges, and it has great structural integrity. It may not be good for blood sugar, but it is delicious.
