CIRA Pilot Projects in HIV Research

The Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS (CIRA) at Yale University supports innovative research through the Pilot Projects in HIV Research Program, which funds preliminary and feasibility studies aimed at advancing HIV prevention, treatment, and health equity. These pilot projects lay the groundwork for larger studies that evaluate novel interventions and implementation strategies in HIV-related research.

    Funding Categories

    • CIRA-Yale Institute for Global Health (YIGH) Joint Pilot Call ($15,000 max, up to 2 awards) for research on the syndemics of HIV and noncommunicable diseases (NCD) in high-burden countries for HIV/AIDS.
    • CIRA Pilot Research Award ($17,500 max, up to 2 awards) for innovative interdisciplinary research that combines behavioral, social, structural, and/or biomedical approaches to reduce HIV transmission and improve outcomes among key affected populations. By funding exploratory studies, this program helps researchers develop evidence-based approaches that address critical challenges in HIV research, policy, and practice.
