REACH

The Recognizing and Eliminating Disparities in Addiction through Culturally Informed Healthcare Program (REACH) was an initiative designed to supplement the education of medical students, residents, fellows, and allied health professional trainees in order to facilitate improvements in health outcomes for substance use disorder patients in underrepresented populations.

The REACH Program provided training in culturally informed care in the area of behavioral health and medicine. It also provided funding for fellowship positions in Addiction Medicine and Addiction Psychiatry Programs across the nation.

The REACH Program was funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) through a grant to the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP). Yale faculty member Jeanette Tetrault, MD, FACP, FASAM, served as Assistant Medical Director.
