Attention ALL faculty, staff, and trainees with a Yale School of Medicine (YSM) ID card: If your ID was issued before July 1, 2025, you need a new one. Your current badge will be deactivated on Feb. 17.

Through March, two distinct cohorts of Yale medical students will be rotating at the same time, reflecting different stages of training:

• Students beginning their clerkship year, and
• Students completing their final clerkship block after a delayed start as part of the Step 1 Pilot (ending March 27, 2026)

To help distinguish between these cohorts:

• Students will have different colored name tags on their white coats--ORANGE (Step 1 Pilot students completing their final clerkship); BLUE (Traditional students starting their first clerkship)
• Cohort status will be clearly flagged in MedHub when completing evaluations (students finishing their final clerkship will be labeled “Step 1 Pilot”)

Overview: Assessing the feasibility of remote blood pressure monitoring among pregnant individuals with a diagnosis of chronic hypertension on antihypertensive medication.

Eligible participants must be between 12 and 24+6 weeks of gestation with a singleton pregnancy, have a diagnosis of chronic hypertension and be on only one antihypertensive medication prior to enrollment, be English speaking, not have a diagnosis of superimposed preeclampsia, etc.

Yale School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Health are launching a new program, the Passion Project. Selected projects will receive up to $20,000 in seed funding, thanks to a generous donor who is passionate about clinician wellness. Applications are due by Feb. 15.

Poster abstracts for Medical Education Day at Yale (Med Ed Day) are now being accepted. The deadline is Feb. 16.

The Office of Physician-Scientist and Scientist Development is accepting nominations for the Fund for Physician-Scientist Mentorship Awards.

The fund was created in 2023 to recognize, honor, and promote the activity of mentorship for those who have served as exemplary role models and mentors for physician-scientists at Yale School of Medicine.

The 32nd Annual Hunger & Homelessness Auction website is now open for submission of auction items and monetary donations.

Every year since 1993, the Yale School of Medicine Hunger & Homelessness Auction has raised thousands of dollars to support organizations in the New Haven area that seek to alleviate poverty in our community.

All are welcome to the auction itself on Feb. 20, 6 p.m., at Cafe Med in Harkness Hall.

Sheth has been appointed as chief of the Gynecologic Specialties Division in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at YSM, effective immediately. She served as interim chief for the past year.

As leader, Sheth will oversee research expansion within the division and clinical growth across Yale New Haven Health.

Linda Fan, MD, inaugural chief of gyn specialties, now serves as president of the medical staff at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Picagli, a longtime Yale New Haven Health nurse leader and care coordinator, passed away on Dec. 6. She was 71.

Picagli retired from Yale New Haven Health in 2022 after 42 years of service. She was integral to the creation of the Me and My Baby program, the Family Centered Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome (FC NOWS), and the Maternal Inreach Team for Equity of Care (MITEY).
