What inspired you to become a Peer Leader?

I participated in two years at Sim Academy at Yale program, and I believe that this program helps students gain knowledge and self-confidence.

What do you like about being a Peer Leader?

I love being a Peer Leader because I enjoy helping students learn and I like the hands-on aspects of the role, especially suturing, splinting, ultrasound, ER skills, and CPR.

What are your hobbies?

I like to help others. I volunteer at a school event that helps students (and their parents) plan for their future, and in a program that distributes free books to elementary school kids. I enjoy reading.

What's next?

I hope to have a future in the medical field. My interests are respiratory therapy and surgery.

What inspired you to become a Peer Leader?

I was introduced to the program in science class during my freshman year. After two years in the program, I was asked to be a Peer Leader. I like the hands-on aspect and learning skills that can be used in the real world.

What do you like about being a Peer Leader?

I like helping others grow. I feel that hands-on learning is better than sitting in a classroom watching others present. I enjoy building teams, creating bonds, and developing friendships.

What are your hobbies?

I have been a Boy Scout for seven years. I have achieved the highest rank, which allows me to mentor others in wilderness patrol, fire warden, and overnight camps.

I am part of the Student Emotional Learning program (SEL) which helps eighth graders prepare for ninth grade. In my free time, I like basketball and football.

What's next?

I am interested in chemical engineering and forensic science.

What inspired you to become a Peer Leader?

I have loved the program from the beginning. In my second year at the Sim Academy, I developed an interest in mentoring others. I like to learn and apply what I have learned in practical scenarios, which is why this program is so interesting.

What do you like about being a Peer Leader?

I like the hands-on aspect and the immersive parts of the program where we practice intubation and delivery of babies. The Sim Academy exposes you to so many aspects of health care. You can find something that you really enjoy.

What's next?

I plan to go to a four-year college. My interests are pre-med, and in biochemistry and biology. I hope to continue in programs like this one, if possible.

What are your hobbies?

I have volunteered over 300 hours at the VA Hospital and supported areas of anesthesia, transport, and ambulatory treatment. I also intern at a Neuro Pathology Lab and volunteer at the Peabody Museum as an educator in the Anthropology and the Dynamic Nature sections.
