This month, we celebrate the incredible accomplishments and continued growth of the Yale Urology community.
At the 2025 New England Section Meeting of the American Urological Association (AUA), our team, once again, made their mark as leaders in the field. More than 15 Yale Urology members presented research or served as moderators across subspecialties, contributing a total of 29 podium and poster presentations. This level of participation highlights not only the strength of our faculty but also the dedication and innovation of our trainees.
We also extend congratulations to colleagues whose outstanding achievements have recently been recognized:
- John Colberg, MD, was honored with the Yale Medicine Distinguished Clinical Career Award.
- Su Deng, PhD, was awarded a K22 grant from the National Cancer Institute.
- Ping Mu, PhD, Sidi Chen, PhD (Department of Genetics), and myself secured the prestigious Prostate Cancer Challenge Award from the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
- Katherine Rotker, MD, was elected as Connecticut representative to the New England AUA, and director at large of the Society of Male Reproduction and Urology (SMRU), a subsociety of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the governing body for the reproductive urology subspecialty.
Our department continues to grow and thrive, and we are excited to welcome three new faculty members to Yale Urology:
• Muneeb Alam, MD, fellowship-trained in oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering
• Ahmad Bani Hani, MD, joining us from Texas Children’s Hospital with more than 17 years of peds experience
• Ganesh Sanekommu, MD, fellowship-trained in endourology here at Yale
We look forward to the expertise and fresh perspectives they bring to our clinical, research, and teaching missions.
