President’s Grants are accepted and awarded on a rolling basis. They are evaluated by an internal team and awarded at the discretion of our president. President’s Grants primarily align with our priority areas.
President’s Grants are one year or less in duration, and awarded amounts are no more than $25,000, which includes indirect costs of not more than 10%. Apply here.
The Northeast Group on Educational Affairs (NEGEA) provides funding to initiate new MESRE projects and to stimulate the development of a community of educational scholars. Projects promoting collaboration across institutions and sections (UME, GME, CPD) are encouraged. The NEGEA may award multiple grants up to $3,500 for single-institution submissions and $7,500 for multi-institution submissions each cycle. This is a two-year award. The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 15 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
The NEGEA provides funding for early- and mid-career faculty to complete an educational scholarship or research project. This grant provides an individual the opportunity for professional development through the design, implementation, and completion of a high-quality educational scholarship project (including curriculum development, educational program, or educational research). Each year, INSPIRE gives out funding opportunities for investigators in pediatric simulation-based research. INSPIRE is seeking studies that are both innovative and have strong potential for a positive impact on healthcare delivery.
The submission portal for the Opportunities and Research Award is open until 11:59 p.m. ET on October 6, 2025. The INSPIRE Micro-award submissions are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Developing A Community of Scholars: Advancing Medical Education
In its strong encouragement and support of research in medical education, the GEA seeks to fund research projects that address important problems or questions in medical education. Proposals that foster collaboration are strongly encouraged. This includes collaborations among GEA sections (UME, GME, CPD), across GEA regions (CGEA, NEGEA, SGEA, WGEA) and/or proposals that engage multiple schools, professions or departments.
Application and Submission Process
The application process will involve two steps—pre-proposal and full proposal. A limited number of pre-proposals will be invited for full proposal submission.

Tuesday, September 16: 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; dinner offsite
Wednesday, September 17: 8 a.m.-12 p.m. with lunch
COMSEP members: $2,000 / non-members: $2,500
Note: This program will take place just prior to the APPD 2025 Pediatric Medical Education Conference on September 17-19, 2025, also at the same location/hotel in St. Louis, MO.
Started in 2022, COMSEP COACH is an interactive, longitudinal course, based on the competencies of the International Federation of Coaches. The coaching program gives medical educators the skills and resources to effectively coach their learners and peers.
Why Coaching? Coaching has broad applicability and is focused on asking questions that encourage exploration and curiosity in the coachee. While mentoring is sometimes thought of as creating someone like oneself by directing them, coaching involves helping others achieve their goals by asking reflective and thoughtful questions.
Program Overview The in-person program includes pre-meeting orientation materials, welcome reception, and a one-and-a-half-day conference taught by certified coaches that will include large group sessions and peer coaching practice. This is followed by longitudinal learning and practice during monthly conference calls via zoom, and a final half day virtual capstone course and celebration!
