- 00:04I'm James. I'm one of
- 00:05the PGY4 neurology residents.
- 00:07One of our clinical sites
- 00:08is St. Rayfield's Hospital.
- 00:10It's located down the street
- 00:11from the main Yale Hospital
- 00:13and it's a little bit
- 00:14more of a community hospital
- 00:15type environment.
- 00:17We run a consult service
- 00:19there
- 00:20and
- 00:21you don't cover stroke codes
- 00:22you just cover inpatient consult
- 00:23and ED consult. One really
- 00:25big advantage of this location
- 00:27is that you're working
- 00:29one resident one on one
- 00:30with an attending so there's
- 00:31a lot of opportunity for
- 00:33direct supervision.
- 00:34The attendant can watch you
- 00:35do your physical exam really
- 00:37closely,
- 00:38watch you take a history
- 00:39really closely,
- 00:41and it's a little bit
- 00:41more of a
- 00:43close resident and attending
- 00:46team than you would have
- 00:47on other services.
- 00:50You rotate at SRC as
- 00:51a PGY2 and a PGY3
- 00:53so it's also a really
- 00:54good opportunity
- 00:56to dive in with taking
- 00:58ownership of the consult earlier
- 01:00on in your
- 01:01neurology residency training.
- 01:03At St. Ray Fields again
- 01:05you follow mostly inpatient consults
- 01:07and ED consults and it
- 01:08tends to be some of
- 01:09the more bread and butter
- 01:10neurology so it's a really
- 01:11good opportunity to learn those
- 01:13basic cases earlier on in
- 01:14your training.
