April YSM ETI TIME Series
"Technology Innovation in Medical Education: Ideathon"
Yale School of Medicine (YSM) and Educational Technology & Innovation (ETI) team will host its second Ideathon, scheduled for April 20, 2026, at the Cushing/Whitney Medical Library team-based learning classroom (SHM L 115). The workshop will be followed by an optional reception at 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Following last year's successful inaugural event, the upcoming Ideathon will once again bring together Yale’s diverse community—including faculty, students, residents, fellows, post-docs, and staff—to collaboratively tackle pressing challenges in medical education through innovative technological solutions.
Building on the framework of last year’s event, which featured inspirational problem pitches, collaborative brainstorming sessions, and solution presentations, this year's Ideathon will continue to foster a culture of innovation within the medical education space. Participants will have the opportunity to propose medical education-related design challenges, form interdisciplinary teams, and develop prototypes or strategies that leverage advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence and augmented reality.
Highlights:
- Welcome Remarks: Insights and visions for educational technology advancements.
- Challenge Pitches: Participants will pitch design challenges to be addressed, followed by team formations for collaborative work.
- Brainstorming and Development: Teams will engage in structured brainstorming sessions, guided by YSM ETI members, using techniques guided by “mini teach” sessions.
- Solution Presentations: Teams will present their creative solutions, demonstrating the potential impact on medical education.
- Networking Reception: A reception will conclude the event, offering further networking opportunities.
Join us at the YSM ETI Ideathon April 2026 to contribute to the future of medical education and forge connections with colleagues who share a passion for innovation. Your participation will help shape the next generation of healthcare professionals through cutting-edge educational technologies.
