Over the past two and a half months, it has been truly amazing to speak with so many of you and learn about your passion and dedication. I have also heard your concerns and ideas for improvement. I have spent time rounding on our firms and visiting the VA and the Saint Raphael Campus, and I am impressed by the teamwork, the commitment to teaching, and the various ways you all work together to deliver care in these various settings.

Preparing for our annual State of the Department review reminded me of the department’s diverse work and its tremendous impact. The accomplishments of our faculty, staff, and trainees are a testament to our environment, where so many of us can thrive and continue to pursue and fulfill our passion for investigation, clinical care, and teaching.

As we work together to build a vision for the department, I look forward to continuing to hear and learn from you, as we create goals that align with our mission and purpose, empowering faculty, staff, and trainees to succeed. I am excited to be here and to work with all of you.
