Last month, I had the privilege of participating in the department's annual Staff Town Hall, an event that celebrates the contributions of the approximately 500 staff members who help our department thrive.
In my nearly nine months as department chair, I have developed a deep appreciation for how much goes on behind the scenes. From managing research labs to building provider scheduling systems, the breadth and depth of the department staff's work is remarkable.
At the town hall, I gained a greater understanding of how staff proactively prevent issues, respond effectively when challenges arise, and build lasting processes that keep everything on track. What struck me most was how they accomplish all of this collaboratively, navigating the complexities of a large, dynamic department with professionalism and grace.
I am truly grateful to work alongside such a dedicated and talented group of individuals.
