This fall marks a transformative moment for our department—one defined by exceptional growth and leadership excellence that positions us at the forefront of academic emergency medicine. Despite the uncertainty of the broader world, Yale EM remains focused on delivering the highest quality acute care, exceptional education, and groundbreaking research.
We're proud to announce two strategic leadership appointments that will help drive our mission forward. Vivek Parwani, MD, assumed the role of vice chair of clinical affairs. He will oversee the growth of our clinical footprint with the planned expansion of the ED at the Saint Raphael Campus, the development of our nascent ED Observation program, and our increasingly substantial and strategic role in the Acute Care Department at the Yale Health Plan. Rachel Liu, BAO, MBBCh, was appointed vice chair of faculty affairs at a critical time of growth in our faculty group, during the expansion of our faculty tracks, and as we focus on supporting our climate of belonging at Yale.
Our influence extends far beyond these appointments. Many faculty have assumed new leadership positions across Yale School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Hospital, serving as a wonderful reminder not only of the centrality of emergency medicine in our clinical, educational and research missions, but also of how great a career choice academic emergency medicine remains.
