Charlotte Schwarz, MD, assistant professor of psychiatry, has been appointed medical director of the Adolescent Inpatient Unit (LV2) at Yale Psychiatric Hospital. The appointment begins July 1, 2026.
Schwarz completed her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with distinction at Duke University. She graduated from Semmelweis University Faculty of Medicine in Budapest, Hungary, and subsequently returned to Duke University Medical Center for psychiatry residency, followed by child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While there, she solidified her interest in working in the acute care setting.
Schwarz came to the Yale Department of Psychiatry in 2023 as a forensic psychiatry fellow in the Law & Psychiatry Division. She joined the faculty as an assistant professor and attending psychiatrist on the Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatry Unit (LV2) in 2024.
In addition to her clinical and educational work, Schwarz is committed to improving care for adolescents, with a focus on family and juvenile justice systems.
