The 14th annual Medical Education Day at Yale (Med Ed Day) takes place on Thursday, June 4. The in-person event, hosted by Yale School of Medicine’s (YSM) Center for Medical Education, brings the Yale Schools of Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health together to spotlight excellence, scholarship, and innovation in health professions education.
Medical Education Day at Yale: June 4
Keynote and Workshops
The 2026 Med Ed Day keynote is Kate Tellers, host, and senior director at The Moth, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to storytelling. Her talk will explore the transformative power of stories to enrich case-based teaching and learning.
Samuel Buck, MD, assistant professor of emergency medicine and director of medical and PA student simulation at the Yale Center for Healthcare Simulation, will then lead a workshop on writing effective cases to promote active, collaborative learning.
A second workshop facilitated by Jennifer Rockfeld, MD, MHS, associate clinical professor in the division of general internal medicine, builds on this theme by exploring strategies for real-time learner engagement and assessment.
A faculty panel comprised of Jeff Dewey, MD, MHS, associate professor of neurology; Caroline Nelson, MD, assistant professor of dermatology; and Uma Phatak, MD, MHS, associate professor of pediatrics (gastroenterology and hepatology), will demonstrate simple techniques that can be applied with any learner and in any setting. Attendees will then consider how they might integrate the strategies into their own teaching.

Featured oral presentations and a poster session will showcase Yale educators’ educational scholarship and innovations.
