Patients with perinatal complications need to partner with physicians to make a series of high stakes decisions. Obstetric trainees have inconsistent and infrequent opportunities to learn shared decision making. Simulation with standardized patients (SPs) can be a way to effectively practice these high stakes, low frequency interactions, potentially improving trainees’ comfort and skills.

Point-of-care ultrasonography (POCUS) is increasingly used in medicine and is widely integrated into training. While obstetric (OB) ultrasound (US) is prevalent, its formal use and curriculum is often overlooked in POCUS training. Obstetric ultrasound provides invaluable opportunity for learners to gain POCUS skills. Formal training and simulation significantly improves learning knowledge, confidence, and practical OB POCUS skills that can be used during clinical care.

Adolescence is a major life transition filled with many changes including physical, psychosocial, and cognitive changes which impact sexual and reproductive health (SRH). Pediatricians play a major role in providing SRH education and services that mitigate adverse outcomes from high-risk SRH behaviors. However, there is an insufficient amount of data assessing SRH training among pediatric residents. This study aimed to assess pediatric residents confidence in providing SRH education and services to adolescent patients before and after a pediatric adolescent gynecology (PAG) rotation. We hypothesize that a rotation in PAG will enhance pedi- atric residents’ confidence in providing SRH education and services to adolescent patients.
