 \, MD\, MPH Dr. Yngvild Olsen is a National Advisor with Manatt Health. A
  nationally recognized leader in addiction medicine\, public health polic
 y and clinical care integration\, Yngvild provides strategic counsel to c
 lients working with substance use disorders (SUDs)\, particularly opioid 
 use disorder\, primary care integration and Medicaid\, as well as state b
 lock grants\, Medicaid waivers and behavioral health integration efforts.
  With over two decades of experience across clinical\, academic and gover
 nmental roles at the local\, state and federal level—including leadership
  at REACH Health Services\, Johns Hopkins and the Baltimore Substance Abu
 se System—Yngvild brings unmatched knowledge\, deep policy insight and a 
 strong national network. She is board-certified in addiction medicine\, t
 rained in general internal medicine and is widely respected for her contr
 ibutions to advancing addiction treatment and recovery nationwide. She ha
 s also advised states on the use of Medicaid waivers\, block grant alignm
 ent and behavioral health integration strategies. Most recently\, Yngvild
  served as the Director of the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment at th
 e Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)\, wh
 ere she oversaw $5 billion in grant funding and led national efforts to e
 xpand access to care\, strengthen the behavioral health workforce and pro
 mote evidence-based practices in the treatment of SUDs. Yngvild has also 
 held leadership roles at the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM
 )\, where she led the association’s policy position development on a rang
 e of substance use-related issues and provided input on the ASAM Criteria
  or continuum of care\, which is the most widely used and comprehensive s
 et of standards and framework for the specialized treatment of patients w
 ith addiction and co-occurring conditions. About the Schottenfeld Lecture
  The Schottenfeld Lecture is held each September to acknowledge the contr
 ibutions of our colleague\, Richard Schottenfeld\, MD\, to the integratio
 n of general medicine and addiction treatment. Dr. Schottenfeld\, an Addi
 ction Psychiatrist and founding Director of the Yale Addiction Psychiatry
  Residency Training Program\, is an experienced clinician\, teacher and c
 linical researcher whose work has focused on improving the efficacy\, acc
 essibility\, and availability of addiction treatment in the United States
  and internationally. In the 1980’s and the 1990’s\, while at Yale\, Rich
 ard helped pioneer primary care-based models of care for people who injec
 t drugs. He currently serves at the Chair of Psychiatry at Howard Univers
 ity College of Medicine. In his role as a Professor of Psychiatry at Yale
 \, he was instrumental in supporting and mentoring numerous clinicians an
 d researchers locally and internationally. His work helped lay the founda
 tion for the Yale Program in Addiction Medicine and we are delighted to h
 onor his legacy with the annual Schottenfeld Lecture. Addiction Medicine
