Clinical Care

Overview

Olof Viktorsdottir, MD, MBA, is an anesthesiologist who cares for adults before, during, and after surgery and other medical procedures. She also specializes in critical care anesthesiology, caring for patients who are seriously ill and require close monitoring in the intensive care unit.

Dr. Viktorsdottir provides anesthesia for a wide range of operations and procedures. She helps patients who may have complex medical problems, such as heart or lung disease, and works to keep them safe and comfortable while they are under anesthesia. She also helps manage pain and vital functions, like breathing and blood pressure, during and after surgery. In the intensive care setting, she supports patients with life-threatening conditions who need advanced monitoring and organ support.

At Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Viktorsdottir serves as an assistant professor of anesthesiology. She holds leadership roles as division head of adult multispecialty anesthesia and chair of the adult multispecialty anesthesia leadership team, where she focuses on coordinating care for adults undergoing many different types of procedures.

Dr. Viktorsdottir earned her medical degree from the University of Iceland and a graduate degree in business administration from the University of Reykjavik. She completed her internship at Brigham and Women's Hospital, followed by residency training in anesthesiology at Massachusetts General Hospital. She then pursued fellowship training at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
