    Biography

    Dr. Sarah Perman obtained her medical degree from Temple University and completed emergency medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Following residency, she completed a Resuscitation Research fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania Center for Resuscitation Science supported by an NINDS T32 while also obtaining her master’s degree in clinical epidemiology from UPenn. Dr. Perman was an investigator in the Ludeman Center for Women’s Health Research at the University of Colorado, a former Building Interdisciplinary Research Career in Women’s Health Scholar (BIRCWH K12) and a member of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado from 2013-2023. She has recently moved back to the Northeast and is faculty at the Yale School of Medicine Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Perman’s work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health/NHLBI, Doris Duke Foundation and the Emergency Medicine Foundation.

    Nationally, Dr. Perman is an active member of the American Heart Association and is the immediate Past-Chair of the AHA 3CPR Council, Chair of the Resuscitation Science Symposium and vice-Chair of the Emergency Cardiovascular Care Science Subcommittee.

    Dr. Perman’s clinical interests are focused on post-cardiac arrest care and acute critical care in the emergency department. Her research is focused broadly on disparities in cardiac arrest outcomes, complex decision making in post-cardiac arrest care, overdose-associated cardiac arrest, survivorship and neuroprognostication for comatose survivors of cardiac arrest.
