    Biography

    Kamal Gautam, PhD, MPH, is an Assistant Research Professor at the University of Connecticut. Born and raised in Nepal, he is committed to improving the health and well-being of underserved and marginalized populations. His research focuses on HIV prevention, suicide prevention, substance use, and tobacco cessation, with a particular interest in digital health technologies.

    His current work uses mobile health tools, ecological momentary assessment (EMA), wearable devices, and machine learning to better understand health behaviors and develop timely, personalized interventions. He collaborates on research projects in the United States, Nepal, and Malaysia and has experience working across academia, public health research, policy, and nonprofit sectors.
