    Biography

    Dr. James Hamilton is Associate Professor Adjunct in the General Pediatrics section of the Department of Pediatrics, Yale School of Medicine. He is Associate Professor Emeritus in the Clinical Health Psychology area of the Department of Psychology, University of Alabama, where he taught and conducted research for 28 years until he retired in 2022. He received a BA in Psychology at Clark University, and an MA and PhD in clinical and social psychology at Case Western Reserve University. His research and training interests center on medical deception, fabricated medical problems, and, in particular, medical child abuse (popularly known as Münchausen syndrome by proxy). He maintains a small consultancy though which he participates in legal matters related to medical child abuse, factitious disorder, and other matters related to medical deception.
