    Biography

    Anjela Galan, MD is Associate Professor of Dermatology and Pathology, and Director of Dermatopathology Fellowship and Training Program at Yale University School of Medicine.

    After receiving her Medical Degree from Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Moldova), Dr. Galan completed a Pathology residency at Baystate Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine, followed by Oncologic Surgical Pathology, and by Dermatopathology Fellowships at Yale University School of Medicine.

    Dr. Galan specializes in Dermatopathology in the departments of Dermatology and Surgical Pathology at Yale University School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Hospital, and at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in West Haven, Connecticut. In her work, she diagnoses skin disorders, using well-established and advanced techniques.

    As an integral member of Yale Cancer Center Melanoma Program, Dr. Galan works closely with a specialized team that includes oncologic dermatologists, medical oncologists, oncologic surgeons, radiation oncologists, and basic science researchers, caring for patients with melanoma and a variety of other non-melanoma skin cancers. She is a panel member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network for melanoma.

    Dr. Galan has participated in many national and international conferences, including giving presentations and organizing sessions. She is a member of several professional societies, including the International Society of Dermatopathology, for which she recently served as its President. Dr. Galan has many scientific publications and serves on the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Dermatopathology.

    Dr. Galan's research interests include melanocytic and non-melanocytic neoplasms, infectious and granulomatous disorders. She enjoys practicing highly specialized dermatopathology, advancing her field and staying current with other advancements, teaching residents, fellows, and medical students, and helping patients. Her guiding principle is simple: “Always do your best and treat every patient the way you would like to be treated.”
