    Biography

    Dr. Alfredo Puing is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Section of Infectious Diseases at Yale School of Medicine, where he specializes in the care of immunocompromised patients, including solid organ and hematopoietic cell transplant recipients, patients with hematologic malignancies, and other medically complex hosts at risk for severe infections.

    Originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador, Dr. Puing earned his medical degree from Universidad Central del Ecuador. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Saint Peter’s University Hospital in New Jersey, followed by fellowship training in Infectious Diseases at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and advanced subspecialty training in Immunocompromised Host Infectious Diseases at Stanford University.

    Prior to joining Yale, Dr. Puing served on faculty at City of Hope National Medical Center, where he focused on transplant and oncology infectious diseases. His clinical and research interests include transplant infectious diseases, invasive fungal infections, antimicrobial stewardship, multidrug-resistant organisms, and infections in patients with cancer and other immunocompromising conditions.
