    Biography

    Alexander J. Rossi, M.D. is a fellowship trained Colon and Rectal Surgeon at Yale School of Medicine. A native of the New York's Hudson Valley, Dr. Rossi attended medical school at Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at Rutgers - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He has completed 2 fellowships, the first at the National Institutes of Health | National Cancer Institute as a Clinical Staff Fellow in Surgical Oncology from 2019-2021 and then as a Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellow at the Ochsner Clinic from 2024-2025. His academic interests revolve around the treatment and care of colorectal cancer patients. His clinical practice treats the entire spectrum of benign, inflammatory, and malignant diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus, including such problems as colon cancer, rectal cancer, diverticulitis and inflammatory bowel disease.

    Alexander Joseph Rossi, MD, is a colorectal surgeon who specializes in gastrointestinal surgery. He takes a comprehensive approach to treating both cancerous and non-cancerous diseases of these areas and is skilled in minimally invasive surgical approaches.

    As an assistant professor of surgery at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Rossi is involved in research that aims to improve patient care and treatment. He chose this field, he says, because he is able to make meaningful and direct impacts on patients.

    “I get to spend my days doing what I love, and the smiles and gratitude I get from the patients that I have the privilege to care for,” he says. “We will take care of them to the best of our ability at every step of the way.”

    Dr. Rossi received his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, followed by a general surgery internship and residency at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He also completed fellowships as a clinical staff fellow in surgical oncology at the National Institutes of Health | National Cancer Institute, and as a colon and rectal surgery fellow at the Ochsner Clinic.
