    2 Minute Read

In an upcoming workshop offered in Wilton, Conn. on Jan. 27, 2026, from 6:30-8 p.m., Yale Child Study Center (YCSC) Assistant Professor Jacqueline Britt-Friedman, PsyD, will address some of the challenges faced by parents and other caregivers related to greater technology use and changes in social support structures. The workshop, titled "Navigating the Challenges of Parenting in a World of Disconnection," will take place at the Wilton Library and is intended for parents and caregivers of children ages 6-16

Participants will explore some of the challenges of parenting in current times with increased technology use and decreased social support. Ways to promote healthy technology use in the context of children’s developmental needs will be shared, along with strategies to improve connectedness and a sense of belonging. Registration is required to attend the session.

"Parents and children alike are feeling more disconnected than ever despite the ability to connect 24/7," says Britt-Friedman. She continues, "How do we put an oxygen mask on ourselves and also give our children what they need to feel supported and thrive in the current circumstances? This workshop provides strategies to support our children through these challenges.”

Britt-Friedman is a clinical child psychologist at YCSC Westport, with extensive experience in schools and clinical settings. She has supported children with a vast array of challenges including executive functioning weaknesses, learning disabilities, anxiety, mood difficulties, social skill deficits, and other stressors. She focuses on helping children and adolescents further develop skills to successfully navigate challenges and on promoting resilience.
