    • 00:00As creative leaders in medicine
    • 00:02and science, we constantly push
    • 00:04boundaries to advance medicine for
    • 00:06the benefit of humanity. Through
    • 00:07groundbreaking research, we're unlocking the
    • 00:10complexities of the human brain
    • 00:11and its vast neural networks.
    • 00:13We're trying to impact lives
    • 00:14every day when we come
    • 00:15to the lab. The the
    • 00:16scientific problems of today can't
    • 00:19be answered
    • 00:20from one perspective.
    • 00:21Yale School of Medicine is,
    • 00:24it's my favorite place. Creates
    • 00:26the opportunity and creates the
    • 00:27environment for,
    • 00:29inquiry
    • 00:31and for
    • 00:32for people to ask questions.
    • 00:34One of the things that
    • 00:35that I've realized that as
    • 00:36a clinical psychologist, I have
    • 00:37certain kinds of training, but
    • 00:39when I combine that with
    • 00:40people with different expertise, we
    • 00:42can ask fundamentally different kinds
    • 00:43of questions. So you see
    • 00:45people from clinical departments, basic
    • 00:47science departments,
    • 00:48putting their heads together to
    • 00:50tackle one single problem,
    • 00:52regardless of of where they
    • 00:54come from. And I think
    • 00:55that diversity,
    • 00:57of thoughts and also of
    • 00:59profession is pretty powerful.
    • 01:01A study that we lead
    • 01:02here has actually led to
    • 01:03the FDA's first investment into
    • 01:06biomarkers
    • 01:07for autism or for any
    • 01:08psychiatric condition. So this is
    • 01:09really literally
    • 01:11an unprecedented milestone for the
    • 01:13field of psychiatry and neuroscience.
    • 01:15We have, you know, at
    • 01:16Yale, you know, trials,
    • 01:18for Parkinson's disease. We also
    • 01:20have the same in in
    • 01:21Alzheimer's disease where we have
    • 01:24new targets,
    • 01:25new drugs. We have the
    • 01:26large clinical trials, multi center
    • 01:29clinical trials in for stroke,
    • 01:32that has been ongoing in
    • 01:33autism research,
    • 01:35in in children
    • 01:37and in neurodiverse populations,
    • 01:40in epilepsy.
    • 01:41The same thing can be
    • 01:42said in psychiatry
    • 01:43where we've the the the
    • 01:45ketamine was founded here, and
    • 01:46now it's in various clinical
    • 01:48trials for depression and for
    • 01:50post traumatic stress disorder. And,
    • 01:52one of its problems that
    • 01:53we wanna tackle is, teen
    • 01:55mental health.
    • 01:56And just looking at over
    • 01:58the last few years, it's
    • 02:00it's at its all time
    • 02:01high. One One of the
    • 02:02exciting initiatives at the School
    • 02:03of Medicine is the Center
    • 02:05for Brain and Mind Health.
    • 02:06Experts who focus on all
    • 02:08different kinds of conditions related
    • 02:11to the brain and related
    • 02:12to the mind from psychiatric
    • 02:14conditions
    • 02:15to stroke, share ideas that
    • 02:17aren't limited by their medical
    • 02:20training,
    • 02:20by their scientific background, by
    • 02:23the condition that they study.
    • 02:24So the Yale School of
    • 02:25Medicine,
    • 02:27cultivates innovators
    • 02:29that are at the cusp
    • 02:30of the next breakthrough.
    • 02:31Philanthropy and science
    • 02:33go hand in hand. And
    • 02:35so what philanthropy lets us
    • 02:36do is to be bold.
    • 02:39It lets us take risks.
    • 02:41It lets us do studies
    • 02:42that hold promise.
    • 02:44Learn how your gift can
    • 02:46support vital and innovative projects
    • 02:48that help us learn more
    • 02:49about the brain's myriad relationships
    • 02:51and connections.
