The growth and accomplishments of our department were on full display a week and a half ago at the 2025 Bernard Lytton Visiting Professor Day with special guest Christopher Gonzalez, MD, MBA. And it was such a pleasure to take part in recognizing many of you who have excelled in research, in the clinical setting, and/or in education at Yale Urology’s Annual Department Graduation Reception. Marianne Casilla-Lennon, MD, was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from the Society of Academic Urologists to expand Yale Urology's surgical skills fair and host similar events at medical schools without established urology programs.

Also, a special shout out to Residency Coordinator Michelle Ross who first identified the funding opportunity.

Eric Bortnick, MD, MMSc, pictured far right, recently graduated from Yale School of Medicine's (YSM) Education Scholar Fellowship program.

The fellowship is a year-long faculty development opportunity designed to train medical school faculty in educational strategies, curriculum and program development, as well as academic scholarship.

Bortnick has been named co-lead for a group of YSM students in the M2 year, starting this fall. It is part of a one-year "high-engagement longitudinal small group" pilot in connection with YSM's pre-clerkship curriculum.

Applications are now being accepted for the Yale Cancer Center K12 Calabresi Immuno-Oncology Training Program (IOTP) Scholar Award. This opportunity is for junior faculty to enhance research skills.

Deadline to apply is Monday, July 7.

Michael Karellas, MD, spoke on prostate cancer during a recent "Wellness Wednesday" community event at Greenwich Hospital.

He and Daniel Petrylak, MD, were also part of the Fairfield County-based Yale Cancer Center team that hosted a separate networking dinner with other providers.

Stanton Honig, MD, contributed a chapter on male infertility to a new book called "Seminal," which examines the relationship between sperm, health, and politics.

Chair Isaac Kim, MD, PhD, MBA, and his wife, Linda, recently hosted a monthly journal club meeting at their home.
