Tormod Westvik, MD, is a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon in the department of surgery at Yale School of Medicine and cares for patients in Waterford, CT. Dr. Westvik specializes in a broad range of reconstructive and aesthetic procedures. He received his medical degree from the University of Oslo in Norway and completed his residency in general surgery at Yale School of Medicine followed by plastic surgery at the Harvard Plastic Surgery Combined Residency Program where he also served as Chief Resident.
Prior to joining Yale, Dr. Westvik was Chief of Plastic Surgery at Sykehuset Telemark Health Trust in Norway for seven years, the third largest teaching hospital for Plastic Surgery in the country. Following that, he focused on establishing a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery service on the west coast of Norway. Both practices offered a broad range of procedures, including a strong focus on breast reconstruction. He also ran a successful private practice for eight years, focusing on rhinoplasties. Concurrently he held several leadership roles in the Norwegian healthcare system focusing on Plastic Surgery.
On an academic front, he has published multiple peer reviewed articles and as the section editor for Case Reports in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery – Global Open, he has performed more than 800 peer reviews over the last three years. He has been an invited speaker both nationally and internationally based on his fields of expertise.
