Senior Administrative Assistant Janine Hoffmann of the Department of Surgery’s Division of Surgical Oncology, Section of Breast Surgery, has been named a 2026 Recognition Award recipient by the Working Women’s Network (WWN) at Yale University.
Hoffmann was selected in the Work Life Champion category, which honors women who take extraordinary measures to help colleagues balance their professional and personal responsibilities. She was nominated by Nirvani Brijmohan, administrative manager for the Division of Surgical Oncology.
As a senior administrative assistant, Hoffmann supports faculty and staff across a wide range of academic and administrative functions, from coordinating meetings and retreats to managing complex projects and academic processes.
In her nomination, Brijmohan described Hoffmann as “the glue that holds us together … someone whose quiet strength and genuine kindness transform the workplace,” citing her willingness to step in to support colleagues, assist with time-sensitive work, and offer encouragement during challenging moments.
Hoffmann is widely known for fostering a culture of compassion and support that helps colleagues across the department navigate the demands of a fast-paced academic medical setting. She was recognized with the Yale Surgery Extra Mile Award for Exemplary Citizenship in 2024 for her dedication to teamwork and service.
The WWN Recognition Awards are presented annually to women across the Yale community who demonstrate outstanding contributions in six categories. Hoffmann will be honored at a ceremony in April alongside 11 other recipients selected for the 2026 award cycle.
