Greenup Named Co-Director of Surgical Health Services Research Core

The Department of Surgery has appointed Rachel Greenup, MD, MHA, as co-director of its Surgical Health Services Research Core, effective July 1.

Greenup will focus on expanding qualitative and mixed-methods research support across the department—capabilities that complement the existing quantitative biostatistical support infrastructure built in recent years. She will work closely with Eric Schneider, PhD, who continues to serve as co-director and has led the development of the department’s quantitative research support team.

In her role, Greenup will leverage both departmental and institutional resources to build additional methodological support and mentorship for surgeon investigators pursuing health services research.

Both co-directors report to Peter J. Gruber, MD, PhD, vice chair of research. Together, they will provide centralized, complementary support for qualitative, mixed-methods, and quantitative research across the department.

The Surgical Health Services Research Core aims to support early- and mid-career faculty in accelerating research programs and securing initial and sustained funding, while fostering a collaborative research community for faculty and trainees interested in health services research through mentorship, idea exchange and co-authorship opportunities.
