Biography

Hemalakshanya Mohan graduated from Georgia State University with a B.I.S. in Biomedical Science and Enterprise. As an undergraduate, Hema engaged in clinical and longitudinal research at the Atlanta VA Medical Center, utilizing MRI imaging to identify biomarkers associated with stroke recovery. Hema furthered her experience at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where she worked on HIV/AIDS and violence prevention interventions for diverse global populations. Now serving as a Postgraduate Associate at the Yale Stress Center, she aims to investigate the neurological, immunological, and epigenetic biomarkers of stress in HIV, mood disorders, and substance abuse. An aspiring Physician-Scientist, Hema spends her free time journaling, creating multimedia art, and reading about the history of word origins and early human civilizations.
