Kim Receives National Kidney Foundation Excellence in Care Award

Michelle H. Kim, MD, MS, assistant professor of surgery (transplant) at the Yale School of Medicine, has been named a 2026 recipient of the National Kidney Foundation Excellence in Care Award. The award recognizes outstanding efforts in patient care, innovative research, and improving quality of life for patients with kidney disease.

Kim was honored March 5 at the Night of Hope Reception benefiting the NKF serving Connecticut. In announcing the award, the organization noted that Kim’s “commitment to excellence, innovation, and compassionate care makes a lasting difference in the lives of patients and families throughout our community.”

A transplant surgeon, Kim’s clinical practice focuses on adult and pediatric kidney transplantation, minimally invasive living kidney donor surgery, and robotic surgery. Her work is dedicated to advancing living donor kidney transplantation and expanding access to transplant for children with kidney failure.
