Joao P. De Aquino, MD, assistant professor of psychiatry, has been appointed an associate editor of Drug and Alcohol Dependence, an international journal sponsored by the College on Problems of Drug Dependence (CPDD).
The journal publishes original research and scholarly reviews spanning clinical trials; basic, translational, and human experimental studies; large epidemiologic investigations; and treatment and prevention research focused on drug, alcohol, and tobacco use and dependence.
Reflecting its mission to integrate biomedical and psychosocial perspectives, Drug and Alcohol Dependence also features work drawing on disciplines such as pharmacology, behavioral science, epidemiology, sociology, and economics—aiming to provide researchers, clinicians, and policy makers access to rigorous, peer-reviewed evidence and to facilitate translation of scientific findings into effective treatment and prevention practices.
De Aquino leads the Pain and Addiction Interaction Neuroscience (PAIN) Lab at Yale. In his editorial role, he will help steward constructive peer review, with particular interest in cannabinoids, experimental therapeutics and human laboratory methods, and the intersection of pain and substance use disorders.
