I chose to join YSM’s Physician Associate (PA) Program because of the amazing connections that allow students to do clinical rotations both locally and globally.
A Day in the Life of a PA Student
During my interview, I saw a commitment to student wellbeing and development that was unparalleled.
What really stands out here is how the faculty treat you. They aren't just lecturing, they are training you to be their future colleague even before you have the initials after your name. They want you to succeed!
I chose Yale for many reasons, some of which include the early clinical experience through ILCE (interprofessional longitudinal clinical experience), the interprofessional education with the medical and nursing students, the guest lecturers who are experts in their fields, and the collaborative environment fostered by our staff.
I am surrounded by people who also shared a passion for medicine and who wanted me to become the best version of myself, something my parents have instilled in me my entire life.
The Yale System focuses on self-directed learning and treating its students as mature individuals, which has positively influenced my time as a student.
Yale continued to stand out to me not just for its academic excellence, but for the qualities that I believed would give me a strong foundation as a future clinician: a world-renowned anatomy curriculum, early exposure to hospitalist medicine via ILCE (interprofessional longitudinal clinical experience), a diverse clinical rotation network, and a strong sense of community among the students and faculty.
YSM stood out to me for its global rotations, medical language electives, early clinical collaboration, and the opportunity to volunteer at HAVEN, a free student-run clinic. Beyond these opportunities, what I found most compelling was the type of collaborative cohort this program sought to build.
The Yale mission allows me to focus on what is important to me, while preparing me to be a leader rooted in compassionate care.
