DESCRIPTION:First launched by Dr. Robert “Bob” S. Sherwin\, the inaugural 
 director of the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation\, the Robert S. Sh
 erwin YCCI All Scholar Day is a celebration of the center’s educational p
 rograms and the accomplishments of the trainees and scholars at all level
 s. Now in its 20th year\, the YCCI has supported 227 junior faculty membe
 rs. 99 percent of scholars remain engaged in research continuing to succe
 ssfully compete for independent grants (including ~540 NIH grants) worth 
 over $1.4 billion and publishing approximately 10\,800 papers. The succes
 ses of the program are a reflection of Dr. Sherwin’s visionary leadership
 \, tremendous dedication\, and passion for training the next generation o

 e event will be held on June 13 starting at 8:30 AM in The Anlyan Center 
 (TAC) Auditorium\, 300 Cedar St. The keynote speaker is Darrell Kotton\, 
 MD\, David C. Seldin Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Bosto
 n University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. Darrell N. Kotto
 n\, MD is the founding director of the Center for Regenerative Medicine o
 f Boston University and Boston Medical Center. He is a physician-scientis
 t trained in pulmonary and critical care medicine and is the David C. Sel
 din Professor in the department of medicine and in the department of path
 ology and laboratory medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr
 . Kotton is an Allen Distinguished Investigator\, a Paul G. Allen Frontie
 rs Group advised program of the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation. He is al
 so an elected member of the American Society of Clinical Investigators an
 d the Association of American Physicians. He leads a basic research labor
 atory\, funded continuously by the NIH for the past 20 years\, focused on
  lung regeneration and stem cell biology\, and he serves on the NIH’s Nat
 ional Heart Lung and Blood Institute’s Board of External Experts. He is t
 he recipient of Boston University’s Innovator of the Year Award (2025)\, 
 the American Thoracic Society’s “Recognition Award for Scientific Accompl
 ishments” (2018)\, the AAMC inaugural national “Research Resources Sharin
 g Award” (2017)\, the Alpha-1 Foundation’s “Researcher of the Year” (2013
 ) and “Shillelagh” (2010) Awards\, Boston University’s Graduate Medical S
 ciences Educator of the Year Award (2018)\, and the Robert Dawes Evans Se
