We are innovators in clinical and basic science research
Yale Ob/Gyn
The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at Yale continues to lead across all areas of our clinical, educational, and research missions. Faculty and staff work together to improve the lives of women and families in our community and around the world.
We have a rich history of advancing women’s medicine. Pioneering discoveries include the invention of the fetal heart monitor, the concept of Rooming-in [where mother and newborn are kept and cared for together], and new causes of and treatments for endometriosis.
As a worldwide leader, our goal of advancing women’s health is just as crucial as providing high-quality instruction for the next generation of physicians in family planning, gynecologic oncology, obstetric specialties and midwifery, and more.
