Kong Elected 2026 Fellow of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco

Grace Kong, PhD, associate professor of psychiatry, has been elected a 2026 Fellow of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco (SRNT).

Fellows are recognized for significant research contributions, leadership, and dedicated service in the field of nicotine and tobacco science, aiming to reduce harm from these products.

The honor, established in 2016, highlights sustained scholarly activity, impactful publications, influential roles in the scientific community (like editing journals or serving on study sections), and active involvement with SRNT, serving as a mark of high achievement in the field.

Fellows typically need at least five years of membership in SNRT to be considered.

Kong’s research is in tobacco use and addictive behaviors in youth, young adults, and other populations. She uses diverse research methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative approaches and social media analytics, to understand tobacco and other substance use behaviors. She has served as principal investigator and co-investigator on multiple NIH-funded studies and is deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of researchers.

She has served as a scientific advisor to the World Health Organization, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, and a U.S.-based nonprofit public health organization.
