Upcoming Symposium Spotlights the Power of Women’s Health Research, From Discovery to Impact

2 Minute Read

Women’s health stands at the intersection of foundational science, economic strategy, and public policy – demanding coordinated action across sectors.

This summer, two of these core sectors – academic research and nonprofit – are coming together to amplify the power of women’s health research. Studying the health of women improves the health of all.

Women’s Health Research at Yale and the Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) are co-hosting the collaborative symposium, From Discovery to Impact: Accelerating Women’s Health Research Through Science, Policy, and Investment, on June 15, 2026, in New Haven. The day-long event will bring together dynamic researchers, policymakers, funders, and industry leaders to help accelerate women’s health research from discovery to impact.

The program will spotlight leading voices in women’s health, including remarks from Women’s Health Research at Yale Director Basmah Safdar, MD, MSc, and SWHR President and CEO Kathryn Schubert, MPP, CAE, alongside cutting-edge science insights, shared directly from more than two dozen Yale researchers and staff in a series of “Scientific Spotlights” throughout the day.

“The Society for Women’s Health Research has been a driving force in advocating for the inclusion of women in science for decades, and Women’s Health Research at Yale is proud to host this inaugural symposium together, convening clinicians, researchers, funders, journalists, and more while shining a bright light on the cutting-edge research being done right here at Yale,” said Safdar.

“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Women’s Health Research at Yale, a leader in women’s health research, for this event,” said Schubert. “It is imperative that we continue to showcase the importance, impact, and wide scope of women’s health research to keep the spotlight on this space. And there is no better way to do this than hearing directly from the researchers and scientists on the ground, in the labs, working every day to close the knowledge gap we still have in women’s health.”
