AUA's 2026 Annual Meeting

2 Minute Read

At least 25 Yale Urology faculty, residents, and researchers participated in the largest gathering of urologists in the world. The recent 2026 American Urological Association (AUA) annual meeting was held in Washington, D.C.

The team delivered more than 44 presentations, including podium talks, panel participation, course instruction, and abstract and poster walk-throughs.

This is just a sampling:

  • Stanton Honig, MD — "Influence of Age on the Success of Post-Vasectomy Semen Analysis"
  • Michael Leapman, MD, MHS — "Genomic Classifier Results and Use of Post-Prostatectomy Treatment Among a National Cohort of Patients with Prostate Cancer"
  • Daniel Kellner, MD — "Treatment Strategies for BPH - Early Intervention vs. Triggered Treatment"
  • Fed Ghali, MD — "Simulating the Impact of Adjuvant Immunotherapy in the NIAGARA Trial Using Gated Counterfactual Survival Modeling"

Several team members were also recognized and won awards at the annual meeting:

  • Christopher Hayden, MD, PGY-5, earned “best podium presentation” at the Urological Society for American Veterans' (USAV) meeting, held in conjunction with the AUA. He was honored for his and Daniel Kellner, MD's, research on "a novel intraoperative Stream Deceleration Score (SDS), a simple measure of external urinary sphincter integrity obtained at the conclusion of HoLEP ... which may serve as a rapid, low-cost tool to improve postoperative counseling and patient expectations.”
  • Marianne Casilla-Lennon, MD, was formally presented the Society of Women in Urology's (SWIU) Elisabeth Pickett Research Award for her work on "Surgical Management of Ureteral Stones in Pregnancy."
  • Siyuan Cheng, PhD, and Yaru Xu, PhD, were each awarded a prestigious Urology Care Foundation (UCF) Research Scholar Award. UCF is the official foundation of the AUA. Cheng was honored for his AI pathology research and Xu for her non-coding RNA work in prostate cancer.

The AUA is an important time to network and reconnect, as well, and this year had a record turnout at Yale Urology's Alumni and Friends' Reception. Nearly 90 former faculty, residents, fellows, and incoming recruits gathered.
