The paper “Effects of Sweeteners and Cinnamon Flavor on Oral Nicotine Choice Behaviors,” published in Nicotine & Tobacco Research, has been selected as the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco (SRNT) Best Paper published in the Basic Science category in 2025.
The paper’s first author is Deniz Bagdas, DVM, PhD, research scientist in psychiatry. Nii Addy, PhD, Albert E. Kent Associate Professor of Psychiatry and associate professor of cellular and molecular physiology, is senior author.
The award was announced at the SRNT Annual Meeting, held March 4–7 in Baltimore, where the authors presented a symposium on related work.
The study includes data generated from Project 1 of the Yale Center for the Study of Tobacco Product Use and Addiction. Addy co-leads Project 1 with adjunct faculty member Sven-Eric Jordt, PhD. Bagdas is a co-investigator, and Suchitra Krishnan-Sarin, PhD, Albert E. Kent Professor of Psychiatry, serves as the director and PI of the center grant.
