Adnan Prsic, MD, assistant professor of plastic surgery at Yale School of Medicine (YSM), has been named the 2026 recipient of the Alan R. Feinstein Teaching Award.
Established in 2005 by Feinstein’s widow, Lili Sentz Feinstein, the award is presented annually to one YSM faculty member for outstanding teaching of clinical skills to medical students. Recipients are nominated by their department chair and selected by a committee of faculty, staff, and students.
In his nomination letter, Department of Surgery Chair, Benjamin Judson, MD, MBA, describes Prsic as “a surgeon-educator who has fundamentally reimagined surgical clinical skills instruction at Yale,” citing his leadership in developing the Basic and Advanced Anatomy electives that create a four-year continuum from anatomy lab training to residency preparation.
As program director for the Yale Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Residency and associate director of the Anatomy program for MD and PA students across YSM, Prsic is widely recognized for his mentorship, technical expertise, and commitment to learner development. Trainees consistently describe him as approachable, supportive, and deeply invested in fostering a positive learning environment.
A fellowship-trained hand and microsurgeon, Prsic also completed the YSM Master of Health Sciences in Medical Education program, further strengthening his commitment to advancing surgical education. His teaching philosophy emphasizes careful observation, thorough physical examination, and clinical judgment — values that reflect Feinstein’s legacy and continue to shape the next generation of surgeons at Yale.
