Kang and D’Amico were nominated for their awards. Below are excerpts from some of their nominations.

Kang:

  • “Miyun Kang is a highly skilled psychiatrist and clinical educator who works with some of the most complex veterans with PTSD. Trainees and staff routinely seek her out for her tailored clinical consultation on challenging cases.”
  • “A highly effective educator, Dr. Kang teaches regularly for the Case Conference series for VA psychiatry residents and nurse practitioner trainees and for the PSR Fellowship seminars. She knows how to reach her audience taking considerable care in preparing lectures, peppering them with relevant clinical examples and anecdotes.”
  • “An outstanding clinical educator, Dr. Kang is highly-regarded for being thoughtful, creative, detail-oriented, reliable, kind, and always helpful - truly an excellent role model!”
  • “She is a beloved tutor and mentor, a valued colleague, and has recently been recognized for her contributions to the department by being named an Associate Program Director for the Psychiatry Residency. In this role she wears many hats, but chief among them has been her exceptional commitment to the education of our residents through both clinical and didactic teaching.”

D’Amico:

  • "Dr. Anthony D'Amico goes out of his way to ensure veterans’ needs are met and receive the best care available. During his yearlong fellowship in addiction psychiatry Dr. D'Amico rescued two veterans from an overdose working closely with the patients, their families and hospital staff during and after the incidents. He developed a tracking sheet for addiction fellows to ensure clinically relevant tasks were met such as completing PDMPs and providing all Veterans with a naloxone kit. Dr. D'Amico co-developed a workshop on harm reduction for healthcare trainees and is presenting a poster in Yale's MedED Day on his efforts.”
  • "(Dr. D’Amico) consistently demonstrates a rare combination of clinical excellence, intellectual curiosity, and dedication to the care of our veteran population. He approaches each patient with thoughtfulness and compassion, providing care that is not only evidence-based but also deeply humanistic. Beyond his clinical acumen, he is a natural team player who uplifts those around him. He's the first to volunteer when the clinic is short-staffed and the one colleagues turn to for insight and support. His generosity with his time and knowledge fosters a collaborative, supportive atmosphere that benefits both staff and patients alike."
