Sarah Schellhorn, MD, associate professor of medicine (medical oncology and hematology) and chief of Ambulatory Services at Smilow Cancer Hospital, has been named a Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (FASCO). The FASCO distinction honors members of ASCO for their extraordinary volunteer service, commitment, and dedication to the organization. Dr. Schellhorn is one of 18 recipients nationwide to earn the FASCO designation this year.
Recipients have made exceptional contributions to the oncology community and this designation recognizes their commitment to transforming cancer care and improving quality of life for people living with cancer. Dr. Schellhorn is a breast medical oncologist, and as chief ambulatory officer of Smilow Cancer Hospital, she helps direct clinical operations. As part of the Cancer Outcomes, Public Policy, and Effectiveness Research (COPPER) Center at Yale, she has a specific research interest in chemotherapy regimens used in the treatment of breast cancer and how they are used in clinical practice.
