Anahita Rabiee, MD, MHS

Anahita Rabiee, MD, MHS, is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist who cares for adults with a wide range of liver and digestive diseases. She has advanced training in transplant hepatology, which focuses on patients with severe liver disease who may need, or have received, a liver transplant.

Dr. Rabiee evaluates and treats conditions such as cirrhosis, alcohol-associated liver disease, viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease, and complications of portal hypertension, which is high blood pressure in the veins that supply the liver. She also cares for people before and after liver transplantation. She works closely with each patient to understand their symptoms, medical history, and goals so that together they can choose a treatment plan that fits their life.

As an assistant professor of medicine at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Rabiee is involved in academic work related to digestive and liver diseases. Her interests include improving care for patients with advanced liver disease and understanding how factors such as alcohol use and gender differences may affect liver health.

Dr. Rabiee earned her medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran. She completed her internal medicine residency and a gastroenterology fellowship in the NIH research track at Yale University, followed by a transplant hepatology fellowship at Yale University. She went on to receive a graduate degree in health science from Yale University, and additional training in addiction medicine and research coordination at Boston University and Johns Hopkins University.
