Title: Novel Approaches to Buprenorphine Extended-Release and Methadone Initiation and Alpha-2 Agonist Withdrawal Management


Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the unique pharmacology of high-potency synthetic opioids and novel non-opioid adulterants in the unregulated drug supply and their implications for initiating medications for opioid use disorder.
  2. Discuss the evidence base, pharmacologic rationale, clinical applications, and relative risks and benefits of novel approaches to initiate buprenorphine extended-release and methadone.
  3. Discuss the evidence base, pharmacologic rationale, and clinical applications of novel approaches to alpha-2 agonist withdrawal management.

    Addiction Medicine Rounds are CME accredited. Each session will be assigned 1 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM
