Dear Colleagues,
For the Section of Digestive Diseases, fall marks the arrival of two pivotal national meetings: the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) Annual Scientific Meeting and The Liver Meeting, organized by the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD). Once again, Yale faculty and fellows were well represented at both events, where they presented impactful new research and facilitated discussions.
At the ACG meeting, Dr. Rosemarie Fisher delivered the inaugural ACG Trailblazer Lecture on building bridges between generations of gastroenterologists to foster a cohesive workforce of the future. She also received the Master of the American College of Gastroenterology (MACG) award in recognition of her decades of leadership and excellence in clinical gastroenterology. Rosemarie, congratulations on these well-deserved achievements.
As one of the preeminent liver programs both nationally and globally, Yale continued its proud tradition of excellence and leadership at The Liver Meeting. Our faculty participated in more than two dozen presentations, including several invited lectures. Notable lectures include Dr. Lamia Haque sharing experiences and insights into joint hepatology and addiction medicine training; Dr. Joseph Lim introducing new AASLD guidelines for managing hepatitis B; Xinshou Ouyang, PhD, presenting on integrative multiomic analyses of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease; and Dr. Anahita Rabiee sharing information on recompensation in patients with portal hypertension.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in these important national meetings! You are great representatives of the section and show our leadership in gastroenterology and liver disease.
I hope you enjoy reading some of the other stories from our section, and I wish everyone a wonderful holiday season.
Sincerely,
Loren Laine, MD
